Situated on the A9 road between Aviemore and Inverness, Tomatin is the first Scottish Distillery to be wholly owned by a Japanese company. It was founded in 1897, but expanded greatly in the 1950s and 1970s, so much so that it became the largest malt whisky distillery in Scotland. The distillery has a brand new Visitors Centre.
A popular Speyside malt well worth the effort of sourcing. Fine deep aromas enjoyed by the nose before the taste confuses your buds with a rich complexity, ask a friend what he thinks and he will describe something different. A fine long after taste.
