Over the years we've been very fortunate to attend some wonderful events and places. Below are some reviews of these experiences which we would like to share with you
Visit to Ardbeg Distillery on Islay
My thanks to Moet Hennessy UK for a memorable trip to Islay this past week to visit one of my favourite distilleries, Ardbeg. Our brand ambassador for the trip was Martin Grant who put together a very convivial group consisting of myself, Richard Joynson from Loch Fyne Whiskies, Stuart Barron of SR&E Barron in Dyce, Peter Wood from Luvians in Cupar and Robin Russell of Robbies Dram in Ayrshire.
Cigar Appreciation Society
On Thursday 24th of February the Cigar Appreciation Society held what was only their second meeting at the Canons Gait in Edinburghs Royal Mile. This is a group of individuals from a diverse spectrum of society who have decided to meet on a monthly basis to indulge and enthuse about their shared passion cigars and lifes other main sensory pleasure; malt whisky. The first of such meetings had taken place the previous month in the altogether more austere surroundings at the Leith H.Q. of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society where the group were introduced to Dominican cigars accompanied by an 18-year-old Glenlivet.
The Caley Bar
Edinburgh has many sights and attractions that are great fun for both local people and tourists from the far-flung corners of the globe alike. The romanticism of the ancient castle that takes centrepiece aloft Princes Street gardens, the narrow cobbled streets of the Royal Mile, the modern wonder of the new Scottish Parliament, and the numerous galleries and eateries are some examples of the diversity on offer, enough to satisfy even the most well travelled among us. This is a proud Capital city that celebrates all our fine land has to offer but when it comes to our national drink, whisky, attractions that offer a little more than the touristy perspective have been thin on the ground, until now
Scottish Malt Whisky Society
For those of you not yet in the know Edinburgh has its own whisky society.
Originally based in the old Vaults of Leith and started as a venture between friend with a passion for old and rare single cask malt whiskies the Scottish Malt Whisky Society now boasts over 65,000 members worldwide.
Whisky Magazine - Cigar & Whisky Challenge
Anyone who knows anything about whisky has at least heard of, if not subscribed to Whisky Magazine. Over the last six years this publication has established itself as the bible for the lover and collector of Scotlands premier drink. This is a position they have forged through their dedication, knowledge and passion that extends not only to whisky, but all of lifes finer things and this, of course includes cigars which made their first appearance as early as issue 11 back in September 2000

Whisky Live Launch and Independent Bottlers Award Ceremony - September 2005
On Thursday September 8th the Oran Mor, a wonderfully renovated church on Great Western Road, played host to not just the launch party of Whisky Live but the rewards ceremony for the first of the Independent Bottlers Challenge organised by Whisky Magazine. And what an evening it was!
