The smouldering, smokey taste of the Hoebeg does not come across as a smack in the face but rather develops in intensity after a couple of seconds. Lightly peaty on the palate and with a spicy finish
We feel that this first Hoebeg bottling is perfect whether you are a novice that wants to progress your drinking experience into Islay bottlings or a connoisseur looking for something new to tickle your tastebuds.
Scored 88 in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2011 which is available to buy here
Jim's Tasting notes:
Nose (23 points) charming nose full of morning after the night before ashes of a peat fire Taste (22.5 points) fresh and chattering with all kinds of sugary smoke notes Finish (21 points) speedy fade leaving just sugars and smoky caramel behind Body (21.5 points) what first appears to be a big, roaring Islay turns out to be a smoky kitten.
